Show and Tell
To encourage spinning and collaboration among guild members, we offer prizes for participation in Show and Tell. Every guild member who participates in Show and Tell will be entered in a drawing for a prize.
In 2007, we saw 31 skeins, a woven blanket, a swatch, a mobius scarf, a woven belt, two felted bags, two pairs of socks, and three scarves.
We have new Show and Tell rules for 2008 in hopes of making the prize distribution more balanced. Here's how it works:
- Skeins — Anyone who brings skeins to a meeting may put a ticket in the drawing. Skeins must be handspun. Commercial skeins dyed during a guild workshop are also eligible. Whoever wins will bring the prize for the next meeting. The prize can be anything. It does not have to be spinning related. If you can't make the next meeting, arrange for someone else to bring the prize for you.
- Finished products — The item must be at least 50% handspun by a member of Illinois Prairie Spinners. Items which are not handspun but were done during a guild workshop are also eligible. All tickets for finished items will go into the kitty for the drawing at the November meeting. Don't be discouraged. There are plenty of small items that can be made from your handspun (cat toys, headbands, ear warmers, hand warmers, etc.).
