2013 Programs
Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings begin at 10 a.m. Most 2013 meetings will be held at the Winfield Public Library (0S291 Winfield Rd., Winfield, IL 60190; 1/2 mile north of Roosevelt Rd.) or at the Warren Tavern (3S540 Second Street, Warrenville, IL 60555).
January 26 —“Just Spin It!” Get the new year of spinning started now! Bring your wheel or spindle and that fiber you've been afraid to start and get to it now. We'll all be together to encourage or suggest how to work with your fiber. Program leader: Janet Calkins. Location: Winfield Public Library.
February 16 — Needle felting and a 3D project. Maggie Wuts will bring some of her beautiful needlefelted art and lead us in making a 3D project. Bring fleece and needle felting needles if you have them. Program leader: Maggie Wuts. Location: Winfield Public Library.
March 23 — “The UnSpun Process” Mary Ann Thompson will describe her blow-by-blow experience with un-plying. Program leader: Mary Ann Thompson. Location: Warren Tavern.
April 26–28 — Annual spring retreat at Camp Emmaus in Mt. Morris, IL. $50.00 for two nights lodging; food not included. You may also come for just Saturday, April 27, for $6.00. Registrations are due April 1, 2013.
April 27 — Plying. Program leader: Jeanne DeVore. Held at Camp Emmaus in Mt. Morris, IL during our spring retreat; $6.00 day camp fee if you aren't attending the retreat.
May 18 — Blocking and finishing techniques. You've spun the yarn. What do you do next to set and finish it? And how do you block a finished project? Bring samples of things you've made and have finished successfully (such as knitted lace, odd-shaped items, etc.) or things that you need advice on. Program leader: Cindy Bennish. Program location: Warren Tavern.
June — No meeting
July — No meeting
August 24— To be determined. Possibly a dye workshop or breed study. Location: Warren Tavern unless other announced.
September 28 — Flax. Program leader: Patsy Zawistoski. Location: Warren Tavern.
October 19 — Using roving and sliver. Program leader: Pat Lamesch. Location: To be determined.
November 16 — Annual planning meeting/potluck lunch/Show & Tell prize drawing. Bring your program ideas for 2014 and a dish to share. Location: At a member's home in Bolingbrook, IL.
December — No meeting
