2014 Programs

Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings begin at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Warren Tavern (3S540 Second Street, Warrenville, IL 60555).

January 25 —Millspun vs. handspun yarn. Learn to decode millspun yarns and spin a matching handspun yarn. Bring scissors, scotch tape, reading glasses and/or a magnifying glass, your spinning wheel, hand cards, and usual tools. You’re also invited to bring a millspun/commercial yarn that you would like to decode and fiber that you think might work. Program leader: Patsy Zawistoski.

February 22 — Yak down. Program leader: Mickey Anderson.

March 22 — All-day workshop (from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) by Carol Rhoades. Spinning Shetland wool for Fair Isle and lace knitting.

April 11–13 — Annual spring retreat at Camp Emmaus in Mt. Morris, IL. $50.00 for two nights lodging; food not included. You may also come for just Saturday, April 12, for $6.00. Registrations are due March 10, 2014.

April 12 — Box loom weaving. Program leader: Mickey Anderson. Held at Camp Emmaus in Mt. Morris, IL during our spring retreat; $6.00 day camp fee if you aren't attending the retreat.

May 17 — Shepherd's market. Program leader: Jeanne DeVore.

June 28 — Discussion topic: choosing a fleece. Bring your current spinning or other project. (The dye workshop originally scheduled for this day has been postponed until further notice.)

July — No meeting

August — No meeting

September 27 — Spinning dyed fiber from the June workshop. Program leader: Jeanne DeVore.

October 25 — Annual planning meeting/potluck lunch/Show & Tell prize drawing. Bring your program ideas for 2015 and a dish to share. Location changed to Warren Tavern.

November 15 — Art yarn workshop with Natasha Lehrer of Esther's Place. Registration and prepayment of the $10 materials fee required by October 31. For more information and the registration form, download the workshop brochure.
