2019 Programs

Unless otherwise announced, all meetings begin at 10 a.m. As of January 2019, most meetings are held at the Warrenville Public Library (28W751 Stafford Pl., Warrenville, IL 60555), but verify the program location (if not listed below) before coming.

January 26, 2019 — What to do with handspun: projects large and small. Program leader: Sue Gibson. Show and Tell with emphasis on results of Mickey Anderson’s mitten challenge. Location: Warrenville Public Library.

February 23, 2019 — The business of fiber. Program leaders: Heavenly Bresser and Chuck Holtzen. Location: Warren Tavern (3S540 2nd St., ​Warrenville, IL 60555).

March 23, 2019 — Shepherds’ market and open spin. Location: Warren Tavern (3S540 2nd St., ​Warrenville, IL 60555).

April 27, 2019 — Simple weaving. Program leaders: Mickey Anderson, Jeanne DeVore, and Bonnie Torres. Location: Warrenville Public Library.

May 17–19, 2019 — Retreat at Camp Emmaus. Third weekend to avoid the Memorial Day weekend. Details and registration information will be in the February newsletter. The Saturday program will be a field trip to Floya Hawkins’ place to see sheep and her walking wheel. You don’t need to go to the full retreat to come to the Saturday program.

June 22, 2019 — Fiber equipment display/discussion and open spin.

July 2019 — No meeting

August 17 and 24, 2019 — Indigo dye sessions at The Fold in Marengo (rescheduled from 2018). Limit of 10 people per session with registration and prepayment required. Registration is limited to guild members until July 1, 2019. The registration deadline is July 31, 2019.

September 28, 2019 — Breed studies with appropriate fiber prep. Valais Blacknose sheep and combing; program leader: Mickey Anderson. Hog Island sheep and carding; program leader: Bonnie Torres.

October 26, 2019 — Planning meeting/potluck lunch.

November 23, 2019 — Drafting techniques. Program leader: Jane Plass

December 2019 — No meeting
